Born Luana Margo Anderson on 12 May, 1938, Luana Anders began her career as a bike messenger at MGM, along with fellow actors, Jack Nicholson, Sandra Knight and future film producers George Edwards, and Fred Roos. She convinced Nicholson to join her in her improv class with legendary teacher and veteran character actor Jeff Corey. Luana began in such B-films as Reform School Girl (1957) (alongside her lifelong friend Sally Kellerman) and Life Begins at 17 (1958), in which she costarred with actor (and future producer) Mark Damon.
Luan also worked with Damon in Roger Corman's The Young Racers (1963). The sound man on The Young Racers (1963) asked her if she wanted to star in his first directing effort. The sound man was Francis Ford Coppola, and Anders played the conniving and duplicitous Louise Haloran, in Coppola's debut feature, Dementia 13 (1963).
She played Vincent Price's sister, Catherine Medina in Corman's The Pit and the Pendulum (1961).
Anders acted opposite Charles Grodin, in Sex and the College Girl (1964). Luana appeared in 3 films for director Curtis Harrington; ingenue Ellen Sands, in Night Tide (1961), a cameo as a party guest in Games (1967), and repressed librarian Louise in the perverse The Killing Kind (1973).
Anders achieved cult status as groovy hippie commune dweller Lisa in Easy Rider (1969). Robert Altman frequently credited Luana with getting his career started. She appeared as a streetwalker Sandy Dennis picks up in Altman's That Cold Day in the Park (1969).
Friend Jack Nicholson made a point of seeing and commenting on the movie during the Cannes film festival where Easy Rider (1969) won the Palme D'or; the subsequent publicity gave Altman the notoriety to launch his career.
She frequently acted in films with good friend Nicholson; she was especially memorable as a Buddhist chanting party girl in The Last Detail (1973). Luana was terrorized by a deranged Mickey Rooney on an abandoned studio back-lot in the unreleased gonzo oddity The Manipulator (1971) and starred in Robert Downey Sr.'s Greaser's Palace (1972).
Anders appeared in Shampoo (1975), a film reportedly based on her romance with hairdresser Richard Alcala; the picture was written by her friend and fellow Corey classmate Robert Towne.
She had a recurring part on the daytime soap opera, Santa Barbara (1984).
Amongst the series Luana appeared on, are Hunter (1984), Ben Casey (1961) and The Rifleman (1958).
Anders co-wrote the comedy Limit Up (1989), and was uncredited in scripting the action/adventure romp Fire on the Amazon (1993), which was Sandra Bullock's debut film for Corman. She appeared in a number of movies with collaborator Richard Martini, including You Can't Hurry Love (1988), about which Variety declared, "It's about time we see the great Luana Anders back on the screen".
She was a member of the improvisational comedy stage group, The Committee.
A lifelong Buddhist and supporter of the American chapter of Soka Gakkai International, Luana Anders died on July 21, 1996.- Actor

Tim Considine was born on 31 December 1940 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for My Three Sons (1960), Patton (1970) and Executive Suite (1954). He was married to Willett Helen Hunt and Charlotte Stewart. He died on 3 March 2022 in Mar Vista, California, USA.- His father was the actor Reginald Sheffield who began as a child star and later turned to character acting. Johnny appeared at age seven on Broadway in the original cast of "On Borrowed Time". When Maureen O'Sullivan wanted out of her Jane role in the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan series, it was decided that she and Tarzan would adopt a son (they had to adopt, according to the Legion of Decency, because they weren't married) before she died. Weissmuller personally chose Sheffield for the part of Boy, a part inspired by Bobby Nelson's portrayal in Tarzan the Mighty (1928); athletic by nature, he was taught to swim by swimming Olympian Weissmuller. Tarzan Finds a Son! (1939) was such a success that MGM signed Sheffield to six more films as Tarzan's Boy. By the time of Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948), he was too big for the part; the film merely said he was away at school. When Monogram Studios learned he had been dropped, they picked him up for the series of movies based on the Roy Rockwood Bomba: The Jungle Boy (1949) movies. He made twelve of these between 1949 and 1955.

Gloria retired from show business after "Sky King" ended, but she remained close to Kirby Grant until his death in 1985.- Actress

If the purpose of a "prairie flower" was to help distract the cowboy hero from the bad guys and/or his horse, then lovely "B" blonde actress June Storey fit the bill. She certainly inspired guitar-strumming balladeer Gene Autry to warble a few ditties in ten of his popular Republic Pictures' oaters.
The Toronto-born leading lady moved with her parents and sister at age 5 to the United States, first to Connecticut then to Long Island, New York, then to Southern California. Following graduation from Laguna Beach High School, she turned to the local stage (including the Laguna Playhouse) and, through family connections, won a screen test at 20th Century-Fox that earned her a contract. A wholesome, natural beauty and one-time model, she apprenticed in starlet bits including work in Student Tour (1934), Girls' Dormitory (1936), skater Sonja Henie's vehicle Thin Ice (1937) and the fictionalized retelling of the great Chicago fire of 1871 In Old Chicago (1938). She did not progress in the ranks, however, and was left pretty much high and dry.
In 1939 Republic signed June up and this is where she began her association with Autry, appearing, beginning with Blue Montana Skies (1939), in ten of his westerns within a two-year span. Feeling trapped and uninspired in this setting she left Republic to find a bigger studio but didn't and freelanced for the remainder of her career. Making the effort to branch out into other film genres with the mystery whodunnit The Lone Wolf Takes a Chance (1941) and the noirish End of the Road (1944), she couldn't rise above the second tier in films. Her last leading role was in the Western Song of the Prairie (1945) starring Ken Curtis. She added some radio work ("Ellery Queen") and toured Army camps following this period and after a few supporting/small roles in some obscure films, June retired from the movies after marrying an Oregon rancher. She never returned.
She devoted much of her later life to charitable causes and became a nurse for a time. Her long association with Autry also allowed her to be a frequent guest at western film festivals and Autry tributes. She later sought a spiritual guidance and became a deacon at her Presbyterian Church in Southern California before dying of cancer on December 18, 1991 at age 73. She is interred at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.- Camera and Electrical Department

Dick Beals provided the voice for the commercial character Speedy Alka-Seltzer and originated the voice of Gumby and the first Davey from the TV series "Davey and Goliath," As a child, he was too small to play sports so started cheerleading for his local high school at age 7. At Michigan State, he was a member of the cheerleading squad and earned his bachelor's degree in 1949. Beals began his voice-over career in the 1940s with such radio shows as "The Lone Ranger," "The Green Hornet" and "Dragnet." His Speedy Alka-Seltzer character was featured in more than 200 TV and radio commercials that aired from 1954 to 1964. His stop-motion animation voice-over roles included the original Gumby from "The Gumby Show" in the 1950s and the voice of the first Davey from the 1960s TV series, "Davey and Goliath." Nearly 300 boys tried out for the role of N.J. Normanmeyer in the early 1990s animated series "The Addams Family," but Beals nabbed the part when he was 65. Because of a glandular condition known as Peter Pan Syndrome, Beals stood just four-feet, six inches tall, weighed less than 70 pounds, and had a voice that never changed from grade school. The Los Angeles Times reported back in 1992 that Beals' voice was featured in more than 3,000 commercials. He was a private pilot and often commuted to Los Angeles for work in his own plane. Beals moved in 1970 from the Los Angeles area to Escondido, where he opened an ad agency, coached Little League and served as a high school sports announcer. Beals raced sailboats, played golf and tennis, competed in duplicate bridge tournaments throughout America, and had never married. Later in life, he was a motivational speaker who turned to his 1992 autobiography to inspire audiences. He called his book "Think Big." He died May 29, 2012 at age 85 and had no immediate family alive at his death, but did have 3 brothers who passed before him.- Jack Ackroyd was born on 5 June 1889 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, UK.
